Baltimore Review News:

Still planning to offer a free generative workshop soon—but first, the summer issue. All writers who entered the summer contest have been notified about decisions. A big thanks to our final judge, Jehanne Dubrow! Winners will be announced when the summer issue is published. We still need to select a few more pieces for the issue; that should be wrapped up soon. Then we need to work on the annual print compilation.

Thanks to BR staff member June Locco for her interview with Sarah Timmke at Bound Books in York, PA. You’ll find that on our blog. It’s so important to support independent bookstores, right?

Super happy to see BR contributors in the Wigleaf Top 50 and the Wigleaf Top 50 Longlist.

Wigleaf  Top 50

Andrea Figueroa-Irizarry,  "Lapagería"

Wigleaf Top 50 2026 Longlist

Dana Brewer Harris, "Bed Work"

Joanne Merriam, "Easy Bake"

Per Olvmyr, "Carefully Dreamed Shakshuka in Sachsenhausen"

--which reminds me that I need to include these on the BR Awards page. Will take care of that soon.

On a personal note:

I was joined by three other local writers at Atomic Books on June 13—great way to celebrate the publication of my chapbook Foolish by L+S Press. The chapbook is now available for purchase! The website says available for pre-order, but it’s actually available now. Big thanks to Rachel Cloud Adams!

Curtis Smith offered to interview about my chapbook experience—I agreed, of course—and the interview will be published by JMWW. An honor, really. I love Curtis Smith’s fiction. He has a new book coming out soon; I look forward to reading it!

Enjoyed hanging out with fellow writers at the Washington Writers’ Publishing House Capital Love LitFest at the Writer’s Center in Bethesda this past Sunday.

In publication news: My flash fiction “The Sand Pit” was published in Fictive Dream (a lovely editor to work with), and a poem was accepted today by Yellow Arrow Publishing for their LUMINATE issue. That will be published in August. I’ll also have work in the Journal of Compressed Creative Arts in August.

Still participating in some generative and critique workshops, although some have slowed down for the summer. Fine with me. I have plenty to do! OK, and this 100 degree heat is a bit of an energy sapper.
