Baltimore Review News: All the micro category submissions have at least one vote, and I’m going through many of them. Five have been selected for the fall issue, and I’m checking to see if another one or two should be accepted. We’re still sticking with our plan to have all decisions on the micros made by September 30.
And, of course, we’re still reviewing submissions in our other categories. And there are so, so many. Once I feel like I have a solid grip on the fall issue—my total journal focus now—I can think about other ways to engage with our readers and writers.
On a personal note: I’m back in my writing groove, and that feels so healthy for me. Like cake, if cake was actually good for you. I finished a story that was a little over 1,000 words, so not tidily in the flash category. A story with some humor and attitude. Haven’t written one like that in a while. And finishing that story left me feeling warmed up and ready to start another one. So, yeah, feeling good.
The TELEPHONE Project launches in a couple of weeks. The link in the previous sentence takes you to the 2021 TELEPHONE Project, so you can get an idea of what it’s like: an enormous ekphrastic art experience. I had a poem in the 2021 version, and I’ll have a prose poem in this new one. We wrote about TELEPHONE in the BR’s spring 2021 issue. Can’t wait to see what the 2025 project is like. I’m sure it will be incredible.
