Baltimore Review News: Decision emails were sent to writers who sent us micro work. Glad that we got those out by September 30—a quick turnaround for a large number of submissions! I confess that I wanted to get a number of BR tasks done before a trip to Cape May. Not that I detached completely during my beach time, but I definitely slowed my pace. Of course, there are still 20 to 30 other BR staff members reading submissions. And if I haven’t mentioned yet how much I appreciate their devotion to the journal and the literary community, well, I’m doing that now.

Another task I took care of before taking off for the beach: emailing all the writers whose work has been accepted for the fall issue to request their photos, bios, etc. for the issue. So those are coming in. But I still want to accept a couple more poems and another creative nonfiction work for the issue.

And we submitted our Best of the Net nominations before the September 30 deadline. Fingers crossed.

On a personal note: All quiet on the writing front, but living is writing and writing is living and all those details from my few days away from my routine places and activities are packed away in my head for future poems and stories.

Received two emails on the same day from journals notifying me that my poems were nominated for Best of the Net. As an editor, I understand the effort that fellow editors put into this process, as well as deciding which works to nominate for other prizes and anthologies, so I am grateful for this recognition.
